I am the director of a very small, alternative high school on the northwest side of Chicago. The majority of my students are from working-class, immigrant families and have never themselves been outside the confines of Chicago. This June, we have the opportunity to send a handful of students on a trip to China, where they can study the language and the culture in an intesive four week summer camp. In order to do this, each student must raise $3500. Obviously, this is not an amount any of their families can afford - that is why we are asking for your help!
